Service Fees

We are a mixed billing practice. GP appointments between 9am-3pm will be bulk-billed by most doctors for Pension, Health Care, Disability and Repat Card Holders and children under the age of 12. All other patients including those who do not have a Medicare card will be charged a private fee.

Out-of-pocket charges are also applicable at all times for Dental and Urgent Care in this centre.

Failure to turn up for a booked appointment without cancelling at least 1 hour before will incur a fee of $20.

As of 1st December 2023, the out-of-pocket fees will increase for Urgent Care consultations on weekends and public holidays. Click here for more information.

Travelling by Car/Parking Facilities

Ample free patient and disabled parking is available within Joondalup Gate. Access via two roads; Joondalup Drive or George Grey Place.

If you are travelling from the north on Joondalup Drive you can only turn right at George Grey Place – then turn first left at the roundabout and follow this road turning right up the ramp to the car park.

Public Transport

TRAIN: Edgewater Stn (Zone 3) is located within the Joondalup Gate precinct and is accessed by travelling on Transperth’s Northern Line (Perth to Clarkson) visit transperth.wa.gov.au or call 13 62 13.

BUS: Joondalup Gate is within Transperth’s Zone 3 – visit transperth.wa.gov.au or call 13 62 13.

Nothing spoils your evening like a bout of food poisoning or an insect bite from a long day of hiking. Instead of waiting until the next morning for medical attention, why not visit St John Urgent Care Centre.

St John is the pre-eminent provider of pre-hospital care in Western Australia.

We’re open 7 days a week, until 9pm for medical concerns that are urgent but not an emergency. Out of pocket charges apply to all Urgent Care consultations. X-ray services are available on site.

Where should I go if I have an urgent medical issue?

If you have a major emergency, always go to the emergency department or call Triple Zero (000).

If you have a minor illness or injury that needs urgent medical care, St John Urgent Care can help.

For a routine doctor’s appointment, book in to see your GP.

If it’s urgent, but not an emergency:

  • Possible sprains or broken bones
  • Cuts that need stitches or glue
  • Sports injuries
  • Minor eye and ear problems
  • Minor burns and scalds
  • Minor illnesses including fever, infections and rashes
  • Insect and animal bites

Go to the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT or CALL 000 for ALL EMERGENCIES:

  • Heart attack/chest pain
  • Unable to breathe
  • Collapse/seizures/stroke
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Serious head or neck injury
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Severe stomach pain
  • Severe burns

Home visits

If you’re unable to come to St John General Practice or simply prefer telephone appointments, you can use our Telehealth service to have a GP consultation by phone or video from home. Book at stjohnhealth.com.au or call reception to make an appointment.

Home visits may also be available with some of our GPs. Please discuss your requirements with reception.

WA Deputising Medical Service (WADMS)

St John General Practice can arrange home visits outside our normal opening hours under an agreement with the WA Deputising Medical Service (WADMS).

Home visits can be arranged during opening hours under certain circumstances. These require approval from your regular GP before WADMS will attend. Private fees will apply.

Walk-in appointments

Walk-in patients will be triaged on arrival and offered the next available appointment. If the matter is urgent, they will be referred to a St John Urgent Care Doctor or redirected to ED for life-threatening conditions.
